Hermes Club was founded in 1984
for the financing of the National Philatelic Exhibition "HELLAS",
the largest national exhibition ever held in our country.
The endeavour was heartingly supported by many members and friends
from Greece and abroad and with their donations contributed by 22%
to the income of the exhibition. Thus it was made possible the
balancing of the exhibition’s great expenses. The small surplus of
Drs 185,022 (542.98 euro), was deposited
to a special account in order to finance similar future exhibitions.
With the hosting of the National Philatelic
Exhibition "Philotelia 2005", Hermes Club was called
upon to pay its duty with the available, at that time, fund of 4,300
euro. Due to the affection and support of
the members and friends of the Society, the total sum of 17,749
euro was collected, out of which 11,548
were spent, covering 46% of the exhibition's expenses.
Under full transparency and respect to the members' financial
contribution, Hermes Club has proved that it represents a
substantial supporter of any exhibition organised by the Society.
This year, the Hellenic Philotelic Society co-organize
with the Scientific Association of Lavrion
from 30 September to 4 October the National
Philatelic Exhibition
"Lavrion 2009",
at the picturesque ancient litoral town of Attica.
We, therefore, invite today the old members of the Hermes Club, the
old and new members of the Hellenic Philotelic Society, the Greek
and foreign collectors as well as any philatelist to renew their
belief to the high targets the HPS serves and support financially
the National Philatelic
Exhibition "Lavrion
2009".
The membership dues amount to 100 EUR or
100 USD payable to the Hellenic Philotelic
Society for the Hermes Club. Any offer
above this amount will be accepted with gratitude.
Each Hermes Club member will be entitled to:
- a copy of the exhibition’s Catalogue and
Palmares,
- a commemorative medal.
Members can follow up the Hermes Club
activities by regular Press Releases in
"Philotelia" and
the exhibition website
(www.hps.gr/lavrion2009).
Let us all support this noble target.
