\"\"<\/a>Quite a few interesting texts, which our collaborators had the kindness to send to the journal, have been kept in the reserves. It has been some time now that the green light came on for them to be presented all together in a March anniversary issue, dedicated to the Nation’s Rebirth. So, here we are, the time has come, and the mini-anniversary issue is right here in front of us.<\/p>\n

The texts signify a time full of battles and bravery. It was the time of the undisciplined rebels, a different cosmos, truly heroic, almost out of a fairy tale. These were the days when … \/ the mountain \/ like a golden ladder \/ rebels and pirates were coming down… , as Palamas will later say. And so did we when proudly recited on 25 March, wearing with pompousness our precious Sunday attire. And there our heroes were, up on the wall, all lined up, in full-colour, all crowned with a laurel.<\/p>\n

Today, among others, we shall go back to 1824 and shall paint with two American philhellenes the first Greek flags. A few pages next, in 1827, we shall sketch the battleships around Sfaktiria. And further down, while talking with the Governor on his first worries, we shall hear him whispering softly Solomos’ lines …all alone you set off \/ all alone you came back \/ doors are not easy to open \/ when you need them so bad…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
