On Wednesday 30 September,
in the Lavrion Technological and Cultural
Park, an important stamp and postal history exhibition gets under
way, which will stay open to the public until Sunday 4 October.
In
approximately
4500
A4 format sheets, mounted on special
display frames,
the visitors will have the chance to enjoy
a variety of exhibits full of stamps, envelopes, post-cards and
other documents.
Most of the exhibits explore Greece and
area of the 19th and the 20th century, a few travel with us, some
speak about Europe, religion, or even football, the Olympic Games
etc.
The exhibition "Lavrion
2009" is part of a National Philatelic Exhibition legacy which dates
back to the 1960s and follows its predecessors "Karditsa 2006",
"Philotelia 2005" and "Efila 2002". The
Exhibition is co-organized by the
Scientific Association of Lavrion and the Hellenic Philotelic Society,
it is placed under the patronage of the Hellenic Philatelic
Federation and it is officially supported by the Hellenic Post, the
Lavrion Technological and Cultural Park, the Municipality of Lavrion
and the Prefecture of East Attica.
The Exhibition will
stay open from Wednesday 30 September, evening, to Sunday 4 October,
noon.
Hours of operation are
10:00-14:00 and
17:00-21:00. Entrance is free.

that the snap General Elections recently announced for 4 October do
not affect at all the Exhibition schedule.

Preparations for the National Philatelic
Exhibition "Lavrion 2009" are in good order.
The OC is happy to announce that
the following Organizations have already expressed their desire to
be enrolled as Supporters of the Exhibition:
- the Lavrion
Technological and Cultural Park,
- the Hellenic Post,
- the Municipality of Lavrion,
- the Prefecture of East Attica.
Exhibitors' entries from Greece and abroad will
be finalized by the end of July. The OC is largely
honored by the interest shown for the participation of exhibits with
Greek philatelic aroma from all over the world. The OC is also
honored by the support of all foreign friends of Hellenic
Philately.
The
exhibition hall in the Technological Park,
one of truly unparalleled aesthetics, along with a large variety of
philatelic exhibits, will no doubt guarantee a successful
Exhibition. Assuming the autumn weather will be as mild as ever,
the OC hopes that both exhibitors and visitors
will enjoy an excellent five-day weekend.

On 19
May 2009, the
Scientific Association of Lavrion and the Hellenic Philotelic Society
agreed to co-organize a National Philatelic Exhibition, in
the Lavrion Cultural and Technological Park, from
30 September to 4 October 2009.
The Exhibition will
take place under the patronage of the Hellenic Philatelic
Federation. It will host all Competitive Classes, including
the experimental Open Class, in approx. 300 16-page frames. Greek and foreign exhibitors with exhibits of
Greek interest are invited to take part. We are looking forward to
new exhibitors and new exhibits.
