February 14
Love mail code.
The symbolism of the stamp on the envelope.

The good, innocent place for the stamp, which the Postal Service made sure to remind us of, was always in the upper right corner of the envelope.

But there were also positions which were not so innocent! In correspondence that had to carry the message completely discreetly!

So, to the left of the envelope and placed upside down it meant: “I love you”.

To the left of the envelope, on the side: “My heart is occupied.”

In the middle, top or bottom of the recipient’s address: “See you soon”.

In the upper right, in reverse: “No need to insist.”

On the back of the envelope, diagonally: “No.”
