The Hellenic Philatelic Society
celebrates
its 100th Birthday!

For its upcoming centenary, the Hellenic Philatelic Society has launched an impressive publication showcasing its contribution to philately and culture. Through this publication, the Society emphasises the breadth of philately and its close connections with history, sociology, the arts, and communication, as reflected in philatelic items. We aim to offer to the philatelic family and the unfamiliar with philately general public a publication of outstanding quality, in terms of both content and aesthetics.

The Centenary Edition features philatelic items from the collections of HPS members and friends. The selected items are of broad social interest, making them appealing to a wide audience. Examples include:

  • mail sent to the end of the world
  • letters as eyewitnesses
  • famous senders, addressees, professions, businesses
  • ideology and propaganda on postage stamps
  • stamps as minuscule pieces of art by great artists
  • war mail
  • mail suspended due to abnormal situations
  • prisoners/deportees
  • special markings
