The Hellenic Philatelic Society
celebrates
its 100th Birthday!
On its upcoming centenary, the Hellenic Philatelic Society is preparing an impressive publication relating to its contribution to philately and culture. With this publication, the Society will highlight the broadness of philately and its close relationship with history, sociology, the arts, and communications based on philatelic items. We aim to offer to the philatelic family and the unfamiliar with philately general public a publication of outstanding quality, both in terms of content and aesthetics.
The Centenary Edition comprises philatelic items from the HPS members’ and friends’ collections. The selected items are of general social interest to be attractive to most readers. Examples:
- mail sent to the end of the world
- letters as eyewitnesses
- famous senders, addressees, professions, businesses
- ideology and propaganda on postage stamps
- stamps as minuscule pieces of art by great artists
- war mail
- mail suspended due to abnormal situations
- prisoners/deportees
- special markings
